# Community Events — 2026

A comprehensive update rollout for the Community Events module began in early 2026. This page tracks all released changes and upcoming features.

## Granular Event Permissions

The event permissions structure has been redesigned with three clear sections: a Use Events Module toggle for basic access, Additional Access options (View All Events, Edit All Events) that also cover registrations, and Additional Features (Publish, Refund, Demographics, Export). The previous separate registration permissions have been consolidated.

## Optional Group Registrations

A new **Allow group registrations** option on the event form controls whether registrants can add additional people during registration. When disabled, the "Add another person" step is skipped entirely. This option is off by default for new events.

## Payment Export Improvements

The Payment Details export now includes a **Transaction Type** column ("Payment" or "Refund") with refunds as separate rows showing negative totals. Preview/test registrations are excluded from the export.

## Registration Deadline Auto-Update

When the event end date is changed, registration type deadlines that fall after the new end date are automatically moved back to match.

## Past Event Registration Page

Visiting the registration link for a past event now shows a friendly "not open for registrations" message instead of a 404 error.

## Notification Email Reply-To

All event notification emails (registration edited, refunded, deleted, cancelled, and reminders) now set the reply-to address to the person who performed the action.

## Event Permissions

Access to create events or manage registrations can now be assigned to individual user accounts through Manage Users.

## Variable Cost Language

Pricing messages on event registration pages now automatically reflect the full cost structure including session and add-on fees.

## Unique Confirmation Messages

Confirmation messages can now be customized per registration type, allowing different messages for attendees, sponsors, volunteers, and other registration types.

## Event Accessibility Improvements

Button text color on public event pages now dynamically adapts to the theme color for proper contrast.

## Preview an Event

A new Preview step allows testing event registrations during setup before publishing. Also released: automatic CRM registration logging, required form field indicators, and separate cover and thumbnail image options.

## Track Number of Registrations

Total registration counts now display in the event list view and on individual event summary pages.

## Advanced Event Accounting

The event Pricing page has been restructured with separate session fee tabs, non-discountable amounts, and a new Advanced Accounting option for per-fee accounting codes.
