A new “Preview” step is now included for events, allowing users to test event registrations during setup and more easily support live registration.

Before publishing an event, we recommend previewing the public-facing details and registration form to ensure everything is set up correctly. More information on previewing is provided below, including:

Caution: Live Emails When previewing a registration, a "preview" confirmation email will be sent to the email address listed on the registration. See the Preview Emails section for more detail.

Preview Events

Previously, a link to preview the event was provided below the progress section. Events could only be previewed after publishing.

Updated

Now, previewing the event is built in to the event creation process. Events can be previewed before publishing.

A link to view the public event is still available after publishing.

Submit Test Registrations

Previously, testing an event required publishing the event and submitting an actual registration. Editing the event after testing required deleting test registrations and unpublishing the event.

Now, events can be tested before publishing. Registrations submitted during the preview are for testing purposes only and are not included in reports/capacity counts or saved long-term.

Click the “Preview Event” link to open preview mode.

Throughout the registration preview, a banner shows that you are previewing and provides a link to exit & and return to the event editor.

Test Checkout Step for Credit Card Transactions

For payment options that are processed online (e.g. credit card), the preview payment step is different than for public registrations. Clicking the button at the bottom of the order page takes you to a “Test Checkout” page. This is for testing purposes to preview where the credit card checkout option fits in the workflow. For public registrations, credit card information can be submitted and processed.

Preview Offline Transactions

For payment options that are not processed online (e.g. cash or check), the preview payment step works the same way as public registrations. After clicking “Complete Registration”, the confirmation page appears and a confirmation email is sent.

Preview Emails

Preview mode supports sending email confirmations, so that you can preview the email message. Emails sent through the preview note that the registration is for testing purposes only.

If you are using the preview option for support or troubleshooting a published registration, please keep in mind that real emails will be sent if an actual email address is provided on the registration.
