Export to Partners

Run the Export to Partners export from the Partnerships or Coalitions list to produce a migration workbook.

The first step of a migration produces an Excel workbook holding your legacy records, already reshaped into the structure the Partners module expects.

Where to Find It

1

Open the legacy list

Go to the Partnerships list — or the Coalitions list — under the Engage menu.

2

Apply any filters you want

The export honors both the filters you applied and the records you are permitted to view.

3

Open the Export menu and choose Export to Partners

Click the arrow beside the Export button and choose Export to Partners. The option appears only when the Partners module is turned on for your organization and you have permission to run a migration. See Requirements.

Which Export Is Which

These are two different files, and it is worth being clear about which is which:

Export
File name
Purpose

Partnerships (Legacy) / Coalitions (Legacy)

Partnerships (Legacy) Export.xlsx / Coalitions (Legacy) Export.xlsx

The ordinary reporting export — all the legacy fields, for analysis. Not an import file.

Export to Partners

Partnerships to Partners Export.xlsx / Coalitions to Partners Export.xlsx

The migration workbook — legacy records reshaped into the Partners structure, ready to import.

What Gets Exported

  • Only the records in the list. The export honors the filters you applied and the records you can view.

  • The date span follows the export. Because a Partner's start and end dates are computed from the reporting periods present, filtering to a subset of years produces Partners whose spans cover only those years. The workbook's own notes sheet says so as well.

  • Small exports download immediately. Large ones are queued and emailed to you when they finish; you will see a "We're processing your export" message in the meantime.

TIP: Export the full history in one pass where you can. A Partner's start and end dates are derived only from the reporting periods included, so a filtered export produces Partners with artificially narrow spans.
