# Edit a Direct Contact

Follow the steps below to edit an existing direct contact record.

**TIP:** The red asterisk **\*** next to the heading of a field indicates that the field is required.

#### Navigate to Direct Contacts

From the PEARS homepage, hover over the **Engage** menu and click **Direct Contacts**.

#### Select a Direct Contact

The Direct Contacts list displays available records. Click the record you want to edit.

#### Click Edit

On the direct contact detail page, click the **Edit** button.

#### Edit the Direct Contact

The General Information page loads. Select the section you want to update and modify the record details as needed. For field-specific guidance, refer to:

#### Save

Click **Save and Continue** to save changes and proceed to the next section, or click **Save** to save and return to the record detail page.

**NOTE:** You may only edit Direct Contacts you created in the current reporting period, unless you are a collaborator, editable user, or Data Manager. Contact your Data Manager to access records from previous reporting periods. Organization Data Managers are listed in the [PEARS Directory](/accounts-and-permissions/accounts-and-permissions/directory.md).
