# Partner Characteristics

Shows partner counts by jurisdiction level, partner type, active status, and new versus continuing relationships.

#### Location

This panel appears on the following dashboards:

* [SNAP-Ed Dashboard](/analyze/impact-dashboards/snap-ed-dashboard.md)
* [Extension Dashboard](/analyze/impact-dashboards/extension-dashboard.md)

It sits in the **Partners and Contacts** group, beside the legacy [Partnership and Coalition Characteristics (Legacy)](/analyze/impact-dashboards/panels/partnership-and-coalition-characteristics.md) panel.

#### Modules Included

* Partners
* Partner Reports

#### Filters

**Applied Filters**

* **Viewable records** — Only partners the current user can see in the Partners list are included.
* **Reporting Year**, **Program Areas**, **Unit** — Applied through the partner's reports. Unit means the report's **Responsible Unit**.

**Non-Applicable Filters**

* **Collaborators** — Partners have no collaborators; record sharing grants replaced them. Filtering by collaborator shows the "filters unsupported" message.
* **Verified** — Partners have no verification status field.
* **Interventions**, **Projects**, **Primary Curriculum**, **Session Date Range** — Not applicable to partner records.

#### Calculations

1. PEARS retrieves all viewable partners matching the current dashboard filters.
2. Four charts are generated:
   * **Partners by Jurisdiction** — Each partner is placed by the jurisdiction level on its **most recent** report, so one partner contributes one bar.
   * **Partners by Type** — Partners grouped by partner type.
   * **Active vs. Ended** — A snapshot of how many partners are currently active (no end date) against how many have ended.
   * **New vs. Continuing** — A time series showing how the active roster was built year over year.

#### Additional Notes

* A partner can report a different jurisdiction level each year. Placing each partner by its most recent report keeps the bars summing to the partner total rather than counting a partner once per level it has ever held.
* Because the reporting-period, program-area, and unit filters reach a partner through its reports, a partner with no report at all drops out of every chart when one of those filters is applied.
* The legacy panel's "Coalition Members by Sector" chart has no equivalent here — there is no sector-of-influence field on a partner.
